A World-Class Landmark in the Making.
Located on one of the top three historical sites in Bend, Mercato is being designed to take its place among other nationally recognized landmark projects. Like the recently completed Ferry Building in San Francisco, Pike’s Place Market in Seattle, The Pearl District in Portland and Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, Mercato will be a bridge from the past to the future
Mercato will celebrate the site’s rich history, as the world’s largest producer of lumber in the 1920’s, with interpretive landmark exhibits. Taking a bold step into Bend’s future, Mercato will be positioned as a destination for visitors and local residents seeking to celebrate fine dining, local and international wines, handcrafted beer, cheese, fresh baked goods and seasonal foods. Mercato will offer a charming blend of historic authenticity with urban sophistication, framed against the majesty of the Deschutes River and the snowcapped peaks of the Cascade Mountains. The promenade level will have a style consistent with an old world European marketplace. Mercato will feature plazas, glass framed atrium entries and heated walkways that will provide a comfortable shopping atmosphere at anytime of the year. Park like landscaping with benches, fountains and outdoor fireplaces will provide a welcome setting for all to enjoy.
Mercato – Where Shopping Will Be An Old World Experience.
Mercato will become home to a diverse mix of nationally recognized retailers and regional specialty shops. In fourteen, for-lease retail spaces ranging in size from 528 SF to 5,233 SF., retailers may be focused on a single-product or may be as diversified as an eclectic shop in the Paris flea market.
The market will draw shoppers from Mercato’s adjacent restaurants, working professionals from the second level offices as well as those within walking distance, and those living in the luxury condominiums on the upper floors of Mercato. It will also be an obvious stop for those now moving into new riverside townhouses and condos in the Old Mill District. And it will be literally in the back yard of those living and working in the Mill Quarter — a cluster of townhouses now selling in the million-dollar range. Mill Quarter also is home to a light industrial urban warehouse complex with its own professional community, and those who visit them.
Because Mercato is a destination in its own right, the unique shopping environment will become a draw for locals from Sunriver to Redmond, with visitors from the entire Deschutes County as well as Crook County. And finally, the significant draw of tourists to Central Oregon will provide another tier of patrons for Mercato merchants. Mercato will be a true live/work environment, where its residents and guests will not have to look far to plan an evening out or to shop for last minute essentials.
